I like the layout of the new site. however, i think a summary or the headlines from the eastern progress would be a cool edition to the site.

Looks great. I’m an online student, so I like the quick link to BlackBoard. I will check the homepage more often, instead of just jumping to my Bb login page! Nicely done!

I like the bottom of the page a lot, along with the icons. I also like the top search bar and EKU header. The links above the picture are appealing to me too.
I don’t like the mid section at all. I don’t like the entire pages color scheme either, it’s very boring, and the page as a whole just seems either a little bit too big, or a little bit too small.
What’s with the huge flowers?
And what’s with the blurry picture?
I’d like to see some more pictures of student life. I think that would be more attractive. Maybe you could feature a student life picture each month.
I especially don’t like the cluster of links that seem to be thrown on the left panel under the Welcome title. I’d rather see a list or a drop down menu perhaps. Making them all next to each other in a pairing or group makes it difficult to pick one out that I’m looking for.

I think it looks a lot better than the old one! One thing is that the flowers are a bit large and do draw the eye away from the rest of the page. Other than that, everything looks good!

The main page is nice minus the bright flowers. Also it should show more of what the university has to offer in a quick little collage or something of the sort…..

Everything is excellent. I’m sure the clickable marquee will be changed. The homepage is balanced… I would like to see some more texture on the ‘infinite’ left and right space since the page is centered. Maybe use vertical spacers to the left and right of the content, and use the free space on the left and right to incorporate a continuous flash movies/animations.
Anything is better than the current one though. I don’t feel as though the old one represents EKUs leadership over other schools in the state.

This website should keep us up to date on our sports!!! Our school has no pride when it comes to our sports! It makes me sick! Our Colonels have won back to back OVC Championships and no one either notices or cares. Today our boys are fighting in the playoffs!!! This should certainly be recognized! Where is the care, the fans, and the pride in our very successful sports program! Make our sports known and appreciated! Remember, we are Eastern Kentucky University! We are not any other college. Cheer for YOUR COLONELS!!!!! GO EKU!!!!!

The flowers on the main banner seem pointless and draw your eyes away from the main content because it makes you think “what are these here for?” The color scheme is very bland and uninteresting. The “News” and “Events” text seemingly collide with each other since there is no break, indicators, or color change that distinguishes them apart like the left hand side of “Welcome,” “Inside Eastern,” and “My EKU” area. The icons at the bottom are well done, but again with the dark grey color it is poorly color schemed. I would suggest dropping the dark grey colors and re-adding more of the beige from the old site and also making the “Events” part different from the “News” section, either with different background colors, text styles or line indicators next to the title such as a simple > or - I would also make the top links to Academics and such more noticeable by making them graphics instead of just normal text links.

I love it. It’s really simple and different. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure the pictures are changed often instead of keeping the same ones for so long.

I like the new layout. It looks very clean. The only thing that would be a nice change would be going directly to the student email log in page when you click on email under the my EKU links.

I think the photos of the people needs more clarity.. The flowers are looking good. Overall i think i needs bit more neat and clear…………

Having the blackboard and email links on the first page is more convenient.
The links at the bottom should be modified to stand out more; when I first saw them I wasn’t sure they were links because of the light gray color.
I miss the scrolling pictures like on the old page. Changing pictures catch the eye of prospective students-you should put a rotating slide show of campus pictures at the top.. like the ravine, the BTC complex, the Hummel planetarium, the Fountain plaza and other features that really market EKU to potential students.
There should definitely be more of EKU’s colors incorporated into the text. Also, having a dropdown menu from the links at the top (academics/admissions/etc would make the site more user friendly. People like to see where they can go before they click.

Love it. Its simple. I would like to suggest to keep the quick links available for the current students. Also rotate the pictures more often by changing them more frequently.

I really like this new homepage! It seems a lot easier to understand and it covers the whole screen instead of a tiny box in the middle! I love it!

I really like the new layout. I think there should be more color on the bottom part though…put some background color behind the news and events sections (different colors to “separate” them). The page seems a little large - perhaps too large. Other than that it looks great!

Glad to see we are finally changing the page. Was wondering if there is any way to make the blackboard and EKU direct and EKU email more accessable since we use this everyday. Also, it would be nice if the blackboard button could go straight to the blackboard login instead of having to click through that middle page. A slideshow of pictures might be a nice addition? Maybe less gray?

I love that the new page is user friendly, but I have to agree that the new page is rather bland and not very friendly on the eyes! Maybe changing the font and incorporating more of the school colors would help that!

The new look is definitely eye-catching, but as someone mentioned above, a little bland -something seems to be lacking…
A slideshow with pictures of our campus, I believe, will bring more life to the website -pictures do speak thousands of words and this gives prospective students more than one view of the campus and our activities, with just one click.
In the slideshow I would recommend including a pic of international students in their colors, say at one of their main events, such as the annual Fall Banquet- it’s always a unique feature of each university.

I love the new look. However why not use a bit more color in the backjground. Use our school colors. I really do think the bottom links at the very bottom of the page should have a maroon background. It would cause it to pop out more.
Also, why not use a slide show showing some photos of our campus. This may draw more people to attend EKU.
Also why not do an employee and faculkty member of the month or something to that extent. It would allow students to get to know more of the staff at EKU, thus tightening the relationship in our EKU staff and student family.
Also, email and blackboard need to be more visible since we students and the faculkty are always using this on a daily basis. Also, please fix it so that when we click on the link to blackboard that it takes us to the blackboard login screen instead of us having to click on blackboard on another page.

I love the new look. It has been lon g overdue. However, I think that that links at the very bottom of the page should have a maroon blackground instead of a gray. Shows more school spirit. LOL! Or even perhaps make it white, and put the background behind the My EKU section on the center left hand side and on the center right hand side (center edges) should be maroon. Perhaps the coloring on the lower part needs to be reconsidered. Show off our scool colors more.
Perhaps even show an employee and faculty member of the month perhaps. This could be a way that students could get to know more of the staff at EKU. Sort of tightened the bond between students and staff perhaps.
However, anything would be better than the current website. I am so tired of seeing the same look.
Better yet why not put a maroon background behind the bottom of the flowers. Then leave middle as it is, and put maroon at the very bottom of the screen behind the links with pictures at the bottom. Just a suggestion.

The new website looks great. I would suggest a little more complex theme to the top header/title of the page.Too boring. Good overall.

I wish that the font used where it says Eastern Kentucky University by the EKU kickstand K logo was marydale. I think that would add a nice touch.

I like the hompage, but the University should review all EKU webpages and delete a lot - there are tons of old pages that don’t reflect an image of a modern EKU.
Also, I’d like the University to consider redesigning/upgrading the Master Calendar.
Finally, I’d love to see the University make available off of the homepage for all students a list of all room reservations.

I like the original website better. For one, it looks better. Secondly, the current one has access to more important sites than the new one.

I like the new layout of the new page. I also agree that it seems over powering by the large picture icons. I think those can be made smaller, and have more EKU logos. Also changing up the font a bit by some color or a different type of font may make it more pleasing to look at, other than that it does look better than the old homepage.

I think that is is a really great idea but I also agree that is maybe a hard to navigate if you are an old user. Maybe if the email and stuff was more bold who knows, Also if the picture was going to so big can we change it more often because I hate looking at the sameone over and over! Also, we Eastern did make a big deal about the new logo and yet we still look at the same one over and over, why did we change it if we are only going to use the same one! Keep up the good work!

After looking over the new homepage, I do agree that it is a better look than the old, however I do not think it is where it needs to be. I agree with the comment that you feel as if you need to “zoom out” from the page. I think the main image is just too big for the page. Maybe you could try reducing the width or maybe not allowing flowers to be the main focal and popping out so much. Also the links on the side (Welcome, Inside Eastern, & My EKU) are not noticeable at all. You can’t separate links by commas. The headers also need to be more distinguished than they are now. Overall I think you all are moving in the right direction, but not all the way there yet.

I do not like the new layout. I think that it is too different. Apparently there is a desire for a new website layout, but I think that this layout is too much of a transition. The transition should be more gradual.

I like the new website. I think it is an updated change that is past due. I agree that we need to use the new logo, but I think the website is very easily navigated and the layout is very pleasing.

The new site is very easy to navigate. The transition is very welcomed. Would love to see the links at the bottom for such things as EKU Rides and EKU Today have added support for direct linking to EKU Direct, E-mail, and of course blackboard as they are the most common things used by students.

I like the idea of a new look to the EKU web site. I feel like the most used buttons like: email blackboard, EKU Direct etc. are not clearly viewed. Otherwise I think a little more work and the website can be changed. My final opinion I like the old page better.

I like the new page!! Its way better than the old one. However I do think that is should have more color and pictures. Maybe pictures that show off our pretty campus.

I like the new website although I feel it should have more color to so it is more popping. I also feel that when you click on the blackboard site it should take you to it directly you should not have to go to the other website then click on it again.

It looks nice, but could you make the links to Blackboard and email stick out more? Since students and faculty use these on a regular basis, they should be easier to find in a hurry. Thanks

Love it, very easy to navigate! I wish it would have had that layout when I first found EKU! This layout would be easier for me as a student aswell, it puts important things right where you need them!

It appears that the designer tried to keep all the old stuff on the new page. However, the new design of the page is horrible (including the Picture)and I also feel like I need to zoom out. I do like how the designer added the compass, social web, and EKU Today to the page.

The page seems very bland to me, but I’m not sure why. It’s either the color scheme or the font scheme, either way it doesn’t seem as appealing.

I like the new look.
From where I clicked to, esp the Campuses,
it would be nice to see the EKU Regional Campuses at the top,
making it easier for the end user to navigate to.
It’s always nice to see the address and phone number on the homepage,
although I know you guys aren’t finished yet.
It’s great to see more defined areas for My EKU, making it easier to
go to a certain area within EKU Direct.
